Lovebox festival

18 Jul

I’ll be at Lovebox festival this weekend in Victoria Park, London doing workshops in the Folksy tent.  I can’t contain my excitement, yeep!

Knottingley workshops

18 Jul

During June and July I visited the Crafty Folk in Knottingley to run a series of workshops with the lovely ladies there.  The Crafty Folk make sellable crafty objects to sell at fetes and fairs and give the profits to local charities.  I think some of these amazing furry toys might be given to loved ones though.

Photos from the Easter Sunday workshop

The recent workshops on Easter Saturday at theartmarket included a Re-Toyed Trash Easter special and Toby Juliff’s collaborative painting. We saw some finger puppets being made, some toothy bunnies, a rather special fish and kids enjoying getting messy with paint. We had fun and we hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend too.

This Easter Saturday…

The next workshop will be a special Easter sewing workshop, making all things Easter-shaped out of scrap fabric.  Think eggs, bunnies, flowers, finger puppets and monster rabbits.  We’ll be returning to theartmarket Saturday 22nd March 12-5pm, so if you’re feeling creative come join in.

The workshop coincides with a collaborative painting event by Toby Juliff as part of his ‘I don’t believe in painting’ exhibition.  There will be a huge canvas to work on and paints available to use.

Wash this down with some cake and chocolate and it’s set to be a creative mini festival.

Everyone welcome!

Workshop at Artgos

5 Jan

Nicolar Bell and I held a workshop for the last day of Artgos on Saturday 15th December at theartmarket.

Artgos was a collaboration between Artsparkle and theartmarket and sold work by big name artists alongside fresh talent working with multiples.

With templates, visitors could make their own soft multiples, or choose to customise our patterns to make something a bit different. We used recycled and donated fabrics in our workshop.

Partake workshop

7 Nov

I was invited by Partake to do a workshop at Wakefield College on 10th October for the Cathedral launch event. My workshop was a part of an open day for the college’s pupils to try out different act activities, also an initiative to help artists work in schools. Other workshops at the event included origami, animation, architecture with sweets and bracelet making.

Artist Nicolar Bell joined me for the workshop. Together we made templates for finger puppets, plush toys and cardboard robots so that the children had a range of characters to choose between. All of the children were able to take away their own creations when they were finished. Bunnies and octopuses proved to be very popular choices, as did the cardboard robots. It was interesting to bring the workshop to this new environment after a summer of workshops at different festivals. This time around, there was no straw to bring home in the luggage mixed in with the fabric.
