Trinity3 exhibition photos

There’s just one day left to catch the ‘Trinity3′ exhibition at Holy Trinity Church, and that’s tomorrow: bank holiday Monday 27th August. Here’s some photos from the exhibition…

I had never seen the space in the church being utilised in this way before with a projector screen hanging between two pillars and a sound installation on the central walkway.

My Re-Toyed Trash installation had a mixture of creations from the workshops and a workshop bench for people to work on. I was pleased to find that a few people were bringing in their own materials to leave for other people to work with in the workshops. Kate left us some brilliant shimmery fabric that she said would not use. Thanks Kate.

I was also exhibiting ‘Leeds Degree Shows Adventure’, a photography project collaboration with Joe Mawson. This project documents my journey around the recent Leeds Fine Art degree shows. The photographs explore my own interaction with other graduate’s work. Playfully negotiating ideas around Authorship, an Artists’ Ego, Art Education and Artwork-as-backdrop it relates to my own position as a recent Artist Graduate.

Bav Shah’s knitted rubber work was also exhibited at ‘Trinity3′. This is his large piece that can be used as a sarong or a hammock, hanging in front of one of the stained glass windows.

The ‘Trinity3′ exhibition begins this Monday 20th August 6 – 8 pm at the Holy Trinity church, on Boar Lane. I shall be there for the opening night and for a workshop held during the exhibition…

I shall also be exhibiting a photography project, called ‘Leeds Degree Shows Adventure’, but it’s a bit of a secret, so you’ll have to come down and check it out.

‘Trinity3′ exhibition in Holy Trinity church

I have been invited to exhibit in a show of art graduates from Leeds this summer called ‘Trinity3′ at the Holy Trinity church, on Boar Lane. Stephen Turner, the art administrator for Arts@Trinity came to my degree show and was interested in my Re-Toyed Trash project. I shall have workshops in this exhibition as well as exhibited work and I’ll be posting the times and dates here soon.

Exhibition dates:

Opening night // Monday 20th August 6 – 8 pm

Exhibition continues // Tuesday 21st – Monday 27th August 10 – 4 pm, Thursday 23rd 10 – 6pm and closed Sunday 26th August

Also at the exhibition will be work by my fellow coursemates from Leeds College of Art & Design, Bryony Pritchard, Bav Shah, Nicola Middleton and Claire Duffin.

End of ‘On the Fence’ exhibition

I spent the last day of the exhibition checking out the other student’s work around the college. I was particularly impressed by the Printed Textiles/Surface pattern design show and some of the exhibits in the Visual Communications show were astounding. I came back a few times to check on our exhibition and kept finding more people sat at the workshop bench making some toys from the scrap fabrics. Like this…

Workshop in the exhibition

It’s the last day of the exhibition at Leeds college of Art & Design today. Yesterday, we had an impromptu workshop in the studio with some new creatures being made.

On the Fence exhibition

The Re-Toyed Trash work is being exhibited as part of my final show at Leeds College of Art & Design. The exhibition ‘On the Fence’ will be on for the next few days until Wednesday. Now that the rain has stopped, you’ve got no excuse to not come down and check it out!

I have already had some interest in my work with a few people wanting me to do workshops in various places, such as schools and at a design festival in London. This is all very exciting, and I shall write down the full details as soon as I know. I may also be creating a book for this project, which will be a fun project for the summer, so watch this space for information.

Setting up for Situation Leeds

I have curated an exhibition of the creations from the last workshop in theartmarket. If anyone reading this made work in the last workshop for Ladyfest, please come down and see your work being exhibited. I am also providing information for the workshops that are coming up. Here is a small sneak preview of the exhibitions happening in the main unit of thartmarket for Situation Leeds:

A collaboration between myself and Sarah Barrett is on display and ready for use, called ‘Archive: Leeds’. It contains information about the use of venues and spaces in Leeds for art activity and is available for anyone to use. Please click the link for more information about the project.

We shall be using a spacious unit in the Merrion Centre that theartmarket have name ‘Corner in the market 1′ for the workshops. It is currently in use as an artists studio where Lil Adams and Joe Mawson are working on a project together. I am looking forward to making use of the extra space that this unit will provide.

A cheeky note:  I have been asked to DJ for the Situation Leeds party on Friday night in the Faversham Conservatory and I am mega-excited!
